Privacy Policy

Effective date: 17 May 2026  |  Last reviewed: 17 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Money Snap ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit money-snap.com (the "Site") and use any calculator, tool, or content on it.

This Policy is designed to meet our obligations under the privacy and data-protection laws of the markets we serve, including:

  • the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — Ireland;
  • the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018 — United Kingdom;
  • the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles — Australia;
  • the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) — Singapore;
  • the Privacy Act 2020 — New Zealand;
  • the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) — South Africa;
  • the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Quebec Law 25 — Canada;
  • the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO) — Hong Kong.
The short version. Calculators run entirely in your browser — we don't see the numbers you enter. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity / Bing Webmaster Tools to understand how the Site is used, which involves cookies and limited personal information such as your IP address. We don't sell your data. You have rights over your data and can contact us to exercise them.

1. Who we are

Money Snap provides free online financial calculator tools and general financial information covering Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong.

For the purposes of EU/UK GDPR, Money Snap is the "controller" of personal information collected through the Site. For the purposes of POPIA, we are the "responsible party". For the purposes of PIPEDA and equivalent laws, we are the "organisation" responsible for personal information collected through the Site.

You can contact us about this Policy or about your data at privacy@money-snap.com.

2. What information we collect

We only collect the information we need to operate the Site, understand how it is used, and comply with our legal obligations. The information we collect falls into the following categories.

2.1 Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, our analytics providers automatically collect:

  • Device and technical data: IP address (truncated where supported), device type, operating system, browser type and version, screen resolution, language settings;
  • Usage data: pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth, click events, referring URL, exit pages, session duration;
  • Approximate location: country and city derived from your IP address (we do not collect precise GPS location);
  • Search query data: aggregated, anonymised search queries that led to the Site, supplied by Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.

2.2 Information you give us

If you choose to contact us, subscribe to a mailing list (if offered), or submit a form, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, and the content of your message.

2.3 Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect financial account details, bank credentials, tax file numbers, national identifiers, or government ID numbers;
  • We do not collect special-category / sensitive personal data (health, biometric, racial, political, religious, sexual orientation, trade-union data);
  • We do not require you to create an account to use any calculator.

3. Calculator inputs — processed in your browser

All Money Snap calculators run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The figures you enter — including income, expenses, mortgage amounts, savings, ages, and any other inputs — are not transmitted to our servers, not stored by us, and not visible to us.

Calculator inputs may be temporarily held in your browser's local storage or session storage to preserve your inputs if you reload the page. This data stays on your device and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.

Analytics providers may, however, record that a calculator was used and how long you spent on the page. They do not receive your numeric inputs.

4. How we use your information

We use the information described in Section 2 for the following purposes:

  • To operate and improve the Site — including monitoring performance, debugging errors, and improving calculator accuracy and content quality;
  • To understand audience behaviour — for example, which calculators are most used, where users come from, and which content needs improvement;
  • To respond to enquiries — when you contact us;
  • To comply with legal obligations — including tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and regulatory record-keeping;
  • To protect the Site — including detecting and preventing abuse, scraping, fraud, and security incidents;
  • To measure marketing performance — including search performance via Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.

  • HTTPS / TLS encryption for all traffic to and from the Site;
  • Access control on administrative accounts (strong passwords, multi-factor authentication where supported);
  • Regular software and plugin updates;
  • Use of reputable third-party providers with their own enterprise-grade security;
  • Data minimisation — we only collect what we actually need.

While no method of internet transmission or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, we take the security of your data seriously and use industry-standard safeguards to protect it. If we become aware of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority and, where required, affected individuals, in accordance with applicable law.

11. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16 (or the age set by the data-protection law of your country, if higher). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights in relation to your personal information. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframes required by the applicable law.

  • Right of access — to ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;

  • Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (see Section 13).

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@money-snap.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Exercising these rights is free of charge, unless your request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

We do not sell personal information.

14. Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. There is no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and we currently do not change our behaviour based on DNT. Where required by applicable law (for example, in certain US states), we treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out request for the sale or sharing of personal information.
